Maggie and the Ferocious Beast

For those of you with kiddos, you know the title of this blog is actually a cartoon. However, some days it does seem fitting. My Paigey can be a wonderful beast with the best of them, God love her! And here is some proof:

Why is it.....

Why is that when a child reaches a certain age, it is nearly impossible for them to have their picture taken without making some ridiculous (but funny!) face? Case in point:

Who, me? I always smile fabulous!

Notice she has a thing for this pose.......

"Oh, a camera - I must make my goon face"

Wassup.......I got in a little late last night.....

A Day in the Life......

A day in the life of Maggie:

8am (I'm a late sleeper!) - drag all my "friends (dolls etc.)" into mom and dad's room. Demand breakfast in front of the tube. Cry when I am told to go potty. Then I fall in to cartoon coma.

10am - Ask to wear a pretty dress and a long ponytail. Play pretend and dress up, make a big mess and cry if I am told to pick up. Yeah right, I only make the messes. It isn't fair if I have to pick them up.

12pm - Lunch which if left to my own devices, I would take my sweet time and make it last all day. Spend the next few hours playing with mom and dragging my room contents all over the house.

2pm - Naptime! I have a whole routine for this. There are certain things that must be in my bed, certain secrets that I must tell mom before she can leave the room and I demand to know what time I can wake up and what is on tap for me once I do wake up.....and it has to be up to my standards of fun.

4pm - Hopfully, I have napped until 4pm. Then it is snack, drink and a cartoon followed by whatever activity mom promised me. Usually I play outside and eat a frozen gogurt which will get all over my dress. This, in turn, makes me freak out because while I like to get dirty, I do not like my pretty dresses to get dirty. Mom tries to get me to wear play clothes outside but most of the time, I just want to wear my pretty dress! What does she know?

6:30 pm - Supper time! Again, I will stay at the table and sing and talk to my heart's content. Eventually I will receive a time line for when I need to be finished. I will not adhere to this so sometimes my supper is taken away from me, which really hacks me off!

8pm - Bathtime. I will usually pee a little over the seat of the potty and cry when mommy asks my why oh why I always do this. Well, mom, my booty is little and that toilet seat is big. I CAN'T scoot back farther or I might fall in! She thinks it is because I wait until the last minute to potty and don't have time to situate myself. Again, what does she know. I will tell mommy and daddy that I am hungry and thirsty but most of the time, they tell me that I didn't eat my supper like I was supposed to so all I usually get is a measly drink of water. Yuck!

8:30 - 9pm - Bedtime. I must read several books and cuddle with mom or dad for "five minutes and ten minutes." This is my standard time for most things I do. Once I am in bed, I have my whole bedtime routine (secrets, friends, etc). Oh, and I must get up a few times before I settle down, usually to tell mom and dad that I haven't had a vitamin today or other important information. Then I will talk and sing myself to sleep.

A Day in the life of Paige:

Early morning - Snort, grunt as loud as I can. The snort means you better feed me or a huge fit will ensue. The grunts means my usual morning gas is coming on strong. Mommy always tells me its a good thing I am cute. I also hear her grumbling to my daddy, who is snoring but I think he pretends.....

1-3 hours later - snort grunt - I need my food fix, Mom. Oh and when you are done, don't even think about putting me down to do something productive. I demand to be held.

1-3 hours later - snort grunt - More food. Mom, you know you are my milk whore.

This is basically my day. I will only nap in my swing and I love to wake mommy up every two hours at night to eat. I am high maintenance and that is how I like it. Just try to make me nap in my crib. I dare you. I can cry and outlast you any day. Bring it on, mom! Mommy always says "I wish I could send you to your grandparents for a few hours." Why does she say that?

Paigey Poo has made her arrival.....well, 6 weeks ago!

Our little one made her way into this world on March 11th at 10:47pm, 7lbs 12oz (just like big sis). She was born at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola in a very controlled , uneventful manner - she must have known Mommy was worried about the drive to the hospital and getting Maggie situated! These things are much easier when you have family around, which we don't!

So, I went to my appt. that day and was 4cm so the midwife made me go walk the Navy mall and come back to be rechecked. Good thing as I was 5cm when I came back and was immediately checked in. Maggie was at a friends house (props to Ann!). So, a quick call was made to Daddy, who did 80 from Whiting Field to the hospital (for those not from here, it's almost an hour drive!). Everything fell into place beautifully and then there was Paigey!

She has been a very good baby and Maggie has been a wonderful big sister. Lots of pink around our house these days. Maggie has been understanding with the nursing and has only tried to nurse her babies once or twice! I had friends warn me this might happen.....good thing Wiley wasn't around when she did it! We are very blessed and having a wonderful (yet sleepless) time with our girls.....very much looking forward to a full night's (or at least 5-6 hours) of uninterrupted sleep!

Kids say the darndest things

Dawn told me this was so very blogworthy....... so, my friend, this one is for you. May Elle grow up to have many blogworthy moments as well when she starts to ponder body parts, bodily functions, etc.

So, Maggie walked in to the bathroom the other day when Wiley was undressing to get in the shower. She got VERY wide-eyed and said "Hey mommy, daddy has a worm growing in front of him!" Needless to say, I laughed like crazy while my husband scrambled to cover himself and get in the shower. As far as good ol' bathroom humor, she is also into bodily functions right now and "tooties" are completely hilarious to her. Of course, I am blaming this on her daddy. At least she says "excuse me." The other day, after going potty, she asked me to come in and wipe her, which I am happy to do in order to avoid the mess the would follow if I didn't. She always hides her head in the towel on the towel bar so I asked her why she did this. Her reply..."well, mommy, I don't want you to see my face when you smell my stink, silly!" I don't blame her.

Jesus take the wheel

Yes, I am still pregnant. No new "news" to share just yet. While I want to just get this over with, I also want my precious new daughter to be "fully baked" and ready to come on her own. Again, I have no control......like I ever do! But it's a great reminder that God is in control of our lives and we need to back off and let him take the wheel. Which leads me to this........

This past week and a half has been pretty hard on our family. Maggie and I took Wiley to the ER last Sunday for kidney stones. It's so hard seeing your spouse in that much pain. I never want to see him like that again. Men are supposed to be invincible!!!! Good news was, obviously, it was nothing life threatening. Bad news, remaining kidney stones in pilots are not a good thing. So, after being told he may never fly again, we have lived the past week in constant prayer with a mixture of fear and anticipation. Not a good combination. What has been amazing is that out of all of this, God helped me reaffirm my complete love and devotion to my husband. I realized that we can't fall into a safe, comfortable routine and take each other for granted because you never know what is around the corner. After finally admitting in prayer that I can't control the outcome, I asked for God's will for Wiley's future and soon after, an amazing peace came over me. I know that everything will be alright.....God will take care of our family. Now fast forward to the medical update today - we saw the urologist and he is very positive about the outcome and Wiley's future flight status. It will probably require surgery and we still have to wait for CT scans and lab work before we will know. An answered prayer!

For my fellow readers, please keep him in your prayers. The man loves to fly, even if it is with students who try to kill their instructors every chance they get! Staying at home for over a week now is really starting to bore him. This may have happened at a good time, though, because he definitely won't be bored when the baby arrives soon!

Now, on to Maggie. She is definitely ready and willing to be a big sister. Every time I go to the dr., she wants to know if Paigey is coming out of my tummy that day. She can hardly keep her hands off the baby toys that we had to get back out of storage. What is it with baby toys that is so appealing? She has been a big "help" to Wiley when he put the baby bed etc. together. In fact, I caught him letting her play with his drill (he wasn't watching, of course, but knew she had it). Really? Does a three year old need to be operating a drill in the house with no adult supervision? Oh well, nothing was mangled! In addition, she managed to draw circles all over the wall of the baby's room with a pencil he had been using. Guess who got to clean it?!?! She is really looking forward to all her grandparents coming to visit "to see her be a big sister".......notice, they are not coming to see the baby. It is all about her!
Here are a few recent pics:

Maggie covered in chocolate sundae from her Valentines party at school, in addition to the gogurt popsicle I gave her to eat outside. What you can't see is the sand infested in her hair and the yucky nose snotties! After this pic was taken, she made a run to the bathroom but didn't make it to the toilet and managed to get #2 everywhere!!!! But she sure takes a pretty picture before all @#$% breaks loose!

Here is a pic of the baby shower my wonderful girlfriends gave me at my favorite restaurant in Pensacola. You can't tell but there are 3 of us expecting in this picture and we are all due at the same time. In addition, our husbands are in the same squadron! Wonder what was in the water in the squadron this past June! Maybe we will get to be neighbors at the hospital.....

Stick a fork in me....I'm done!

Well, the further into this pregnancy I get, the more uncomfortable and ready for it to be over I am! Things are going well and I am almost 35 weeks......the end seems so close yet so far away! Maggie is ready to be a big sister. She is always asking when Paige will come out of my tummy. If she only knew how much her "all about me" world is gonna be rocked by this new little one!

Maggie is such a joy to Wiley and I and it is hard to fathom bringing a new little girl into our family of three. Lots of hope, excitement, anxiety and fear run through my mind at all times of the day. I think it may be harder going in to your second pregnancy than your first because now you know what to expect and that can be frightening. I am not ready for those labor pains!!!! My biggest fear by far is getting Maggie situated and getting to hospital in time. More than likely, my mom will not be here yet but we have several wonderful friends and neighbors that can shack up with Maggie at a moment's notice. Also, my other fear is that Wiley will be in the air if/when I go into labor and just the amount of time it will take to land, get home and then rush down to the Naval Hospital is no small feat of time! But, it will all work out, like every other plan God has for us!

Maggie is enjoying preschool and the things that come out of her mouth are hilarious. Her favorite day, of course, is show and tell day. You never know what she will want to take with her although it usually is a stuffed animal of some sort. And, ok, the child is 3 and they already send homework home!!! Not a big deal because it is usually just a few things to color. But, wow, she will be doing homework for the 18-20 years of her life! She is also mommy's best little shopping buddy. The girl loves to shop. Get ready to open those pockets, daddy!!! We hit the Pouty Princess consignment sale today and got lots of Gymboree and Zutano outfits (most brand new) for very little. Every time I would hold up an outfit, Maggie would say "Oh, mommy that will be adorable on Paigey." I love it!!!!!!!!! Girls are the best.......although I may not be thinking that when those preteen years hit!

Here are some recent pics of our trip to the Aquarium in Atlanta:

That's a big fish tank, Daddy!

We could have watched the otters all day

Last but not least, Daddy playing with Maggie's hair.
