Why is it.....

Why is that when a child reaches a certain age, it is nearly impossible for them to have their picture taken without making some ridiculous (but funny!) face? Case in point:

what a silly girl! it drives me crazy when my kids say cheese but won't look at the camera for anything! at least Maggie looks at the camera! :)
